The Full Story
Cllr Caroline Clapper has confirmed that the planned resurfacing works at Newberries Car Park will no longer take place next Tuesday and Wednesday.
Recent flash flooding and heavy rainfall have delayed the contractor’s work elsewhere, affecting the schedule for the planned work in Radlett.
The resurfacing has now been rescheduled for 19 and 20 September.
Dates chosen to reduce disruption
The revised dates were selected because there are no advertised shows taking place at the Radlett Centre that weekend.
The dates also avoid the Jewish New Year during the previous weekend, helping to reduce disruption for residents, visitors and members of the local Jewish community.
While any work at a busy town-centre car park will inevitably cause some inconvenience, the revised arrangements have been planned to keep as much of the car park available as possible.
Half of the car park will remain open
Approximately half of Newberries Car Park will remain open throughout the resurfacing works.
This means residents and visitors will still be able to use part of the car park on 19 and 20 September, although fewer spaces will be available than usual.
Signs at the car park are being updated to display the new dates and help ensure that users are aware of the revised arrangements.

Separate work for the EV charging area
The section of the car park designated for the new electric vehicle charging points will not be resurfaced as part of the main works.
Instead, this area will be completed separately once the new chargers have been installed.
The installation has been delayed because providing power across the bridge has proved more complex than originally expected. This issue must be resolved before the chargers can be installed and the surrounding area resurfaced.
Although the EV charging section will therefore be completed at a later date, this additional work is expected to cause considerably less disruption to people using the car park.
Keeping residents informed
Cllr Caroline Clapper will continue to monitor the arrangements and share further information when it becomes available.
She said:
“I will share further updates as soon as I receive them.”
Residents who regularly use Newberries Car Park should take note of the new dates and allow for reduced parking availability on 19 and 20 September.
